As we all know this is a popular Indo Chinese cuisine made of minced vegetable balls which are deep fried and served with a flavourful gravy. I love it with noodles.
- Cabbage – 1/2
- Carrot – 3 pcs
- Capsicum green – 1 pc
- Cauliflower florets – 8 pcs
- Ginger – 4 tsp finely chopped
- Garlic – 5 tsp finely chopped
- green chillies – 5 pcs finely chopped
- Whole wheat flour – 3 tbsp
- Black pepper powder – 2 tsp
- Soy sauce – 2 tsp
- Onion – 2 chopped in cubes
- Vinegar – 1 tsp
- Tomato ketchup – 2 tsp
- Water as required
- Black salt – 1 tsp
Finely chop all the vegetables. I have used a hand chopper which has made chopping easy for me.
Now move the finely chopped veggies into a bowl and to it add the finely chopped ginger,garlic,green chillies and salt and mix well.
Now add cornflour to the mixture and along with it add salt , pepper and a bit of soy sauce for taste .you can even add Chinese salt if you want I have not used it.mix well
Mix it well I have not added any water as once you start mixing it automatically the veggies will release water and that will be enough to make smalls balls out of the vegetable mixture
Now deep fry these vegetable balls in cooking oil .
Let’s prepare the Manchurian gravy, to begin with heat some oil in a wok and to it add finely chopped ginger garlic and green chilies and fry it remember the flame should be on high now and the oil should be super hot. once you add finely chopped ginger garlic and green chilies you will get a nice aroma.
Now add other veggies like capsicum , onion, carrots and spring onions all should be cut in square shaped as that’s the shape I prefer. if you dont want to add veggies you can skip it but for me personally i feel this add great flavor . I have just added onions as that was available in my pantry. statue it for a min or 2 the flame should be on high.
I have added soya sauce ,vinegar, green chilly sauce and tomato sauce and let it cook for a min never let the flame be on medium or low while preparing this delicacy.
Now add required amount of water to it along with some chilly flakes and a bit of oregano to flavor the gravy here also you can use Chinese salt directly I have skipped it and to it add some cornflour to get the required thickness.
once the sauce thickens a bit add the vegetable balls to it and turn off the flame.
Now it’s ready to serve
